About OnStar Insurance
OnStar Insurance was launched in 2020 and will be in all US states by end of this year. OnStar Insurance Services intends to leverage its unique understanding of the vehicles GM produces to offer a secure, fair, personalized and easy-to-use insurance experience for drivers. GM has the largest connected vehicle fleet worldwide. In the US alone, there are currently 9M connected GM vehicles on the road and that number is projected to triple in the next 10 years. More than that, the OnStar system currently has access to over 900 data points from the vehicle. This surge in information about vehicles and how they are driven will revolutionize auto insurance. This disruption is backed by the bold GM vision of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion. We are serious about the safety and financial security of our customers. Job Description
OnStar Insurance is currently looking for an individual who is obsessed with empowering drivers to understand their driving behavior and take control of their driving safety and insurance price. You will work with the senior product manager on the design and delivery of the personal auto insurance product features, coverage, forms, rules, and rating. The top candidate will be adept at the discipline of product management including a data-driven approach to balancing customer need, technical solutions and business strategy to develop and deliver on a product vision. This is a terrific opportunity for a savvy product manager to make a big impact in a dynamic, fast-moving organization.
You will formulate and execute differentiated products that provide the right price and protection for customers in our evolving mobility landscape and GM's bold commitment to an electric and autonomous vehicle future. Your understanding of the customer need will drive your research into the competitive market, innovative insurance solutions and insurance regulation. You will represent the interests of the business and the customer in creating customer solutions with a mix of dedicated and matrixed resources while partnering with organizational stakeholders such as engineering, marketing, corporate communications, legal and other business units. To execute on the product strategy, you must be able to effectively communicate, document and prioritize business needs.
The ideal candidate must be willing to take initiative, embrace change and be comfortable taking on an evolving set of responsibilities as this space is an ever changing one. They must be willing to accept the imperfect to find the practical - but only in the near term. You must continue to strive for that ultimate advantage that brings maximum value to both the customer and GM.
This is a remote position. The selected candidate can reside and perform the work from anywhere within the United States.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in insurance product management
Expert in managing market research to understand customer need to develop product strategy
5 experience with designing, developing, implementing, and rolling out personal lines insurance product features, coverages, rates, rules, and forms; experience with telematics products a plus
Hands-on experience with rate, rule, and form filings with multiple state regulators
Experience leveraging state performance metrics to develop pricing and product strategies to achieve business goals
High level of interpersonal skills (oral, written, and presentation) to work effectively with a variety of different groups, and a strong commitment to teamwork and partnerships
Proven ability to build collaborative relationships in a complex, multi-divisional, geographically dispersed business organization
High ability to manage ambiguity
Highly organized
Learning agility
Advanced Office skills required
