As Director of Engineering,
you will be in charge of our client's engineering division, overseeing the build and launch of our client’s exciting new Cloud based application! Our client is a brand new start up working on collecting specific scientific data and is constructing a world class Cloud based application in a rapidly emerging, heavily anticipated field of research and mapping. Their data is vast and highly complex and will be accessed by customers all over the world including military, scientists, and industry SME’s among others. The Director of Engineering
is responsible for managing all of the internal software development and SaaS application objectives and building their products from prototype into production. This includes applying your SaaS architectural design skills, the experience and capability to define processes and tools used to meet objectives, and your ability to mentor and code review as needed. Saas and Cloud experience is highly desirable. The Director of Engineering
will be a dynamic leader, critical thinker, and a passionate former coder with five years experience with the following:
Demonstrated, rich leadership in all areas of people and infrastructure management
Heavy, hands-on former coding experience
Experience implementing very high quality, sophisticated software development methodology processes
Understanding of Enterprise Class Data Management
Management of between 5-20 Software Engineers
Heavy SaaS and Cloud experience
Demonstrated experience:
Five years software engineering experience building highly scalable internet systems
Advanced coding skills in C/C /C#, Java, Ruby, Python, Perl
Extensive leadership and management experience including hiring, team development, career development/mentoring, etc.
Interacting, guiding and evolving teams in a rapidly changing environment
Map-Reduce, REST and Postgres is highly desirable
Ecommerce and payment processing is also a huge plus
Cloud or SaaS platform experience
Big data experience a plus
