Shipman & Goodwin LLP is looking for an exceptional, strategic, collaborative, detail-oriented, experienced leader and technology practitioner to join as the Senior Director, Information Technology. The Senior Director, Information Technology will be responsible for the overall strategy, leadership, management, roadmap, and operations of the Firm’s Information Technology department. The Senior Director, Information Technology will be responsible for aligning the Firm’s current and future IT needs to the Firm’s short and long-term goals. This position specifically develops, leads, and manages in a hands-on fashion the technology infrastructure, incident management, user support, critical system monitoring, and provides necessary program management of IT related system implementations.
This position is responsible for developing and mentoring a highly effective team across multiple technology disciplines, providing management acumen in leveraging existing technologies to best serve the Firm and maximizing returns from the technology investments, and replacing or consolidating under-performing technologies and systems. The effective candidate for this position must demonstrate a strong track record of effectively directing the work of others, the ability to lead teams, project manage extensive firm-wide initiatives and instill confidence and adherence to project plan timeframes and deliverables. The position will have a strong emphasis on customer service (i.e., serving the needs of the Firm’s lawyers, paralegals, and staff) and operational excellence to ensure high availability and security of IT resources.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred in addition to certifications. The successful candidate must have 10-15 years of progressive IT or technology experience with proven track record of success in leadership positions, preferably in a law firm or corporate law department. A minimum of 10 years managing or directing an IT department in a multi-office environment and 5 years of experience in leading and transforming IT Infrastructure and IT service functions successfully in a prior organization. Qualified candidates must be well versed in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy best practices, and Data Breach Incident Response procedures and be familiar with ISO 27001, NIST 800, HITRUST CSF, or other security certifications, particularly in the healthcare, banking and insurance industries. The ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with all levels of Firm personnel in a team environment across multiple offices is essential. In addition, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects required.
