SALARY
: The recruitment salary range is $117,430 to $205,209, with a midpoint goal of $161,319. Actual starting salary will depend on qualifications and experience.
General Description
This is a nonpartisan position, and the successful candidate will be expected to remain free from political party affiliation, bias or designation for the duration of the appointment. This position works on-site in the Minnesota Senate Building and Capitol during the legislative session. When the legislature is not in session, flexible hybrid options may be available.
Position Summary
Under direction of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, the Director will supervise the Office of Senate Counsel, Research and Fiscal Analysis. The Director will ensure that SCRFA provides reliable, high-quality assistance including legislative drafting and fiscal analysis to Senators and Senate staff. The Director reports to the Committee on Rules and Administration, is a member of the Senate Management Advisory Committee and supervises SCRFA staff. The Director will also staff one or more Senate committees.

Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience providing legal services or fiscal analysis in a legislative setting.
AND
Significant managerial or advanced experience providing direction for legislative services, such as legislative drafting or fiscal analysis.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, applicants must demonstrate:
Experience providing legislative services and related advice to Legislators.
Demonstrated strong communication and management skills.
Excellent analytical and writing skills.
Strong understanding of the legislative process.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred. Examples include J.D. or M.P.P.
Experience and skill with the management and coordination of a team of highly skilled professionals performing complex, time-sensitive work in a legislative setting.
Competencies
Ability to work under tight deadlines and extended hours during the legislative session.
Ability to balance conflicting demands and tasks.
Excellent human relations skills.
