Where you fit in?
The Downstream Manufacturing Pernis site (Rotterdam) is a great place to work with ample learning and development opportunities for employees who are looking to deepen and broaden their technical and professional skills. For employees who are aiming for senior positions within Downstream, P&T or Upstream it is an excellent place to further develop leadership skills in a complex and diverse organization.
The Pernis site is one of the largest petrochemicals sites in Europe with over 550 hectares (incl. Europoort Terminal) of processing facilities. The site includes the largest refinery asset in Europe, > 57 000 TPD (400 000 BBL/day) crude oil intake with a highly complex configuration. Upgrading units consist of a hydrocracker, cat cracker, HF alkylation, HYCON, visbreaker, Platformer-Aromatics complex and gasification plants. The site has recently embarked on a project to build a SDA (solvent deasphalter) unit.
Furthermore, the Pernis site is integrated with the Moerdijk Chemicals site and together we underpin significant trading activity on both feedstock and product side. The site also includes several chemical assets that integrate Moerdijk Chemicals and the Pernis Refinery: polyols, hydrocarbon solvents, MTBE, propylene splitter, DMK, IPA and glycol ethers. The site has access to 2 crude terminals and provides products to customers via rack, pipe, barge and coasters.
At Shell Pernis you show up as a true HSSE leader, by genuinely believing in, and fostering a culture where people truly care about each other and work together to achieve Goal Zero. Pernis is continuously working on improving safety, reliability, environmental performance and operating costs. The goal is to be leading in Operational Excellence & Margin generation, with excellent flexibility on both crude intake and product slate. A site to be proud of, Oils and Chemicals combined, a good neighbor with a good reputation, where we need to realize our vision together to outperform the competition. We ensure personal and process safety and strive to realize our vision of outperforming the competition. We deliver products to meet market needs, creating margin through optimizing end to end commercial opportunities. The Pernis journey entails both improvement of its current performance, as well as preparation for the future by adapting the site configuration to changing demand patterns and more stringent environmental regulations. Value chain integration with trading, chemicals and specialties is paramount to E2E value delivery. An assignment in Pernis will be challenging and rewarding, offering professional growth and enabling development of deep technical grounding.
Finally Pernis is one of the key downstream locations and takes a leading role in the energy transition. There are plans to build a world class Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a joined industry Carbon Capture project (PORTHOS) and use of green hydrogen form the Shell Electrolyser project.
