Job Description:
The Shell Brockville Lube Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) is located in Brockville, Ontario, Canada. Brockville is one of 40 LOBPs in Lubricants Supply Chain (LSC), falling under the Global Commercial class of business within Shell Downstream with a current throughput of approximately 130 ML/yr and capacity of 350 ML/yr, Brockville LOBP produces approximately 165 formulations of automotive, aviation and industrial lubricating oils across >900 finished product SKUs. Products range across bulk rail and truck, 975L tote, 205L drum, 20L pail, 5L (gallon) and 1L (quart) small bottle. The plant’s 115 bulk storage tanks, 2 in-line blenders (ILB) and 2 auto-batch blending kettles (ABB) are fully automated with receiving, loading and packaging via the plant Distributed Control System with full ERP (GSAP) integration.
This exciting Shell role is accountable for the Small and Large Pack Production Operations and Warehouse operations at the Brockville LOBP. Beyond leadership of the Packaging & Warehouse teams, the incumbent is a member of the Brockville Management Team and as such participates in the development and implementation of plant-wide policies, procedures and practices.
The Packaging Production Manager will be responsible for leading the Packaging Production Team and Warehouse Team at the Brockville LOBP. The Packaging Operations Team consists of 17 people who deliver small pack (1 and 5 litre) and large pack (pails, drums and totes). The Warehouse is supported through a contractor and this role will require leadership and contract management of this team.
The Packaging & Warehouse Manager is critical in leading a team of highly knowledgeable staff, assuring they are setup to deliver and removing barriers to support them. The candidate will be part of the extended Brockville management Team and will work closely with the Brockville Plant Manager in delivering the site goals.
This role fully supports LSC’s vision to drive Goal Zero HSSE performance by embedding a culture of caring for others, and mentoring employees as regards risk identification and mitigation. Team player with the ability to instruct, guide, develop and motivate others. Strong communication skills up, down, and across the organization.
Accountabilities:
Deliver Goal Zero and HSSE strategy creating a safe and reliable work environment for all staff, neighbors and community
Utilize visible safety leadership to lead in HSSE
Ensures Production resource levels and shifts are organized to enable Production Volumes to be achieved and the cost effective/efficient use of Overtime as needed to meet demand variability
Ensures HSSE/sustainability strategies, systems, policies, standards, and tools are in place and functioning across Brockville LOBP
Lead and inspire a team of 17 self-managed Packaging employees working collaboratively across all teams at Brockville LOBP
Lead a community in the Warehouse with 1 direct report who oversees 25 3rd Party Logistics contractors to move the product through the Brockville Warehouse
Contract Holder for the warehouse and responsible for the annual delivery of the budget
Ensure quality product through rigorous application of the Lubricants Quality System (LQS) and compliance with ISO/IATF standards. Apply continuous improvement principles to lead quality investigations and understanding source of the issue
Drives performance tracking and analysis efforts, identifying trends/gaps relative to comparators, and translates them into operational targets and actions. (e.g., Run-rate charting, Equipment Uptime, Change-over time, etc.)
Deliver the Business Plan for Packaging production including total packaged. Hold team accountable and deliver on critical business performance KPIs including OPEX, line efficiency, production volume and quality
Manage OPEX budget in Packaging Team through balancing work priority and overtime.
Develop and lead continuous improvement opportunities within plant operations.
Drive identification and completion in cost competitiveness and project delivery to sustain long-term reliability, growth and cost improvements for Brockville LOBP
Deliver site strategy and vision as a member of the Brockville Leadership Team to create, communicate and lead the site
Active member of the Brockville Emergency Response Team
Skills & Requirements
Min 10 years of related experience, preferably in the manufacturing, industrial or Oil & Gas industry
Previous experience leading a team with direct reports
Knowledge of production operations is an asset
Familiarity of ISO 9001/14001/45001 IATF 16949 an asset
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
