Job Description:

What is the role?

The role of the Business Risk Manager (North America) will be to support the Global Business Risk Manager across North America (an on occasion globally) acting as the focal for the region.

This position will be a contributor to a portfolio of medium-to-large sized projects and/or assurance actions of high complexity and risk and has the following accountabilities:

Core individual accountability and focus on mapping, identification, testing, and, where necessary, creation of key processes and controls to assure the Business is properly managed across a range of risks.

Initial risk focus areas: Compliance and Operational risk


Risk and Control Transformation Programmes such as a Risk and Control Assessments, Assisting with Conduct Risk and Supervision principles 1st Line.
Assisting with the design and develop the team processes, control framework in support of the 3 Lines of Defence model that has recently been established. Define the role of 1st line in products trading & supply
Support the process and controls scope through a structured change management process to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed time, cost, and quality parameters with focus on delivering the business benefits.
Underpin with business stakeholder’s metrics and criteria and to identify, measure, and track planned vs. achieved KPIs/KRIs
Support the implementation and assist with the management of assurance processes to test with each desk & develop programs and controls to ensure risks through the deal are mitigated
Support the Global Business Risk Manager in respect to a project/assurance activities:
Execute, monitor, control, and close all aspects of the project lifecycle;
Validate financial forecasts and review ongoing reconciliation of resources and expenditures.
Proactively analyse risks and variances against plan to assess trends threatening agreed scope, time, cost, and quality commitments. Identify signs that a project may be at risk and escalate quickly and appropriately.
Ensure directly or indirectly that appropriate stakeholder change management and communication plans and engagements are developed and executed.
Bring a benchmarking lens into our new programs that manage various risks through the life of a deal and act as a senior leader and advocate for balanced approaches
Apply project management and IT control/assurance methodologies, standards and processes including architecture, information risk management, and transition to support.
Creating a motivated high-performing team through team building, information sharing, workload management, and appropriate recognition. Develop the skills of team members through coaching and delegation.
Establish and maintain appropriate and effective governance structures and procedures to obtain resources, drive decisions, resolve issues, and deliver project objectives.
Resolve conflict and deliver tough messages with grace.
Execute and drive decisions despite limited information.
Motivate and advocate for the team while removing barriers so that the team can complete its objectives while managing pressure.
Work virtually in a diverse global organization and with major outsourced suppliers of infrastructure and application services.
Develop and tailor stakeholder communications material and level of detail to the audience.
Remain focused and productive under pressure and recover quickly from setbacks.
Balance execution efficiency with risk mitigation, value delivery, cost, and quality.
Able to assist the Business Risk Lead with a large programs and projects in alignment that span both the products business and work across the horizontal.


What we need from you


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Minimum of 10 or more years of front Office experience within a Commodities environment is a must.
Experience of Operational Risk Policies and Standards
Business processes mapping, gap analysis, design/re-design and implementation;
Business controls design/redesign, test, implementation, assurance
Demonstrated learning agility in ambiguous and unfamiliar situations
Knowledge of commodities markets, derivative products, trading platforms and operations as well as overall E2E processes/interfaces would be a distinct advantage
Agile project experience
Familiar with and able to adhere to project management methodologies and tools
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong stakeholder management skills - including experience coaching stakeholders
Experience in implementing change management
Experience in leading/participating in a distributed team
