Associate Director, US Commercial Compliance Tools and Technology (ID)

 

  • The Associate Director, USCC Tools and Technology is responsible for US Commercial Compliance Team technology strategy, resourcing, implementation, socialization, and training that enable marketing and sales forces to be more compliant and business ready
  • Act as the US Commercial Compliance Tools and Technology liaison between OEC, Legal & brand leadership, Field Operations, IAT Team, US Communications and BTS to oversee the design, deployment, training, communications, and management of the US Commercial Compliance Tools for compliance monitoring, reporting and communications.
  • US Commercial Compliance Tools consist of, (but are not limited to): iREP Compliance functionality (iREP Veeva CRM), OPENDOOR, ASK OEC Virtual Assistant, Speaker Programs compliance reporting, ABS call reporting monitoring, Material Review SmartSheets and NPP compliance reporting capabilities, the AbbVie Learning Center (ALC), and free text monitoring requirements for rep texting programs and manager use of free text in a:coach.
  • This position helps to drive compliant field and marketing activities through compliance tools and technology solutions by establishing a strategic partnership with Field Operations and BTS to identify compliance tool efficiencies and enhanced agility for the field and marketing teams as well as the US Commercial Compliance team 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Compliance Technology Management: Subject Matter Expert (SME) and central point of contact for compliance tool and compliance reporting technology needed for speaker programs and call activity.
  • Compliance Tools and Technology lead for maintenance of and improvements to US Commercial Compliance owned tools.
  • Proactively partner with US Commercial Compliance leads, BTS, OEC, Legal and brand teams to review, discuss, and prioritize system enhancements & commercial compliance process improvement recommendations.
  • Operations Management: Support weekly and monthly Commercial Compliance tools updates with tool and system owners. Collaborate with colleagues on data methodology, approach, framing, enhancements, field and marketing feedback, and new requests from OEC, Legal, brand teams and other stakeholders.
  • System Management: Works closely with key BTS, OEC, Legal, Field Operations and brand team stakeholders to ensure compliance requirements are well defined and approved in compliance related sections of iREP and other systems generating reports for compliance monitoring and metrics.  Demonstrates subject matter expertise relating to Abbvie compliance technology systems and capabilities, processes and all compliance reporting tools. Proactively recommends improvements to streamline current processes and reduce cycle time.  Leverages network in BTS and US Commercial Compliance on co-creation of new processes and solutions.
  • Project Management: Cross functional leadership across Performance Ops organization and BTS to roll out Commercial Compliance projects within defined scope and schedule. Develops project plans that integrate and align with cross functional processes and project schedules, acts as a resource to provide innovative solutions, mitigate risks, manage field and marketing priorities, and delivers solutions to improve compliance readiness for US Commercial.
  • Strategic Planning: Partners with Commercial Compliance Tool owners, marketing and field tools owners and BTS to define long range strategic technology plans for compliance tools for field and marketing readiness and systems that generate compliance reporting, monitoring and metrics for US Commercial to help support field and marketing compliance and to minimize risk to the organization and provide better compliance intelligence for brand leaders, OEC, Legal and Commercial Compliance.  These plans will include expense and capital requests for tool enhancements. Infuse a US Commercial stakeholder focused mindset to deliver solutions and/or reduce current offerings thus ensuring field and marketing teams have everything they need to be compliant while increasing agility at the speed of business.
  • Communications and Training: Subject Matter Expert working in conjunction with the US Commercial Compliance Team, Performance Ops, OEC, and Legal to identify training/education and communications opportunities to pull through tool and system use. Partner with franchise Analytical Task Forces to define and manage the deployment approach, with updates to increase awareness and pull through system use.  Present at Compliance Forums, Field Ops iREP meetings, BTS planning meetings and meeting with field and marketing colleagues to assist in understanding capabilities and needs for tool/system agility and compliance reporting meetings. In addition, assist in facilitating innovation sessions for compliance tool enhancements, and present systems capabilities to key internal stakeholders.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Create and maintain a wide and deep network of relationships across senior stakeholders to include VP's, Directors, in Performance Ops, BTS, OEC and Legal. Viewed as a trusted partner and has established credibility with and US Commercial Compliance and functional BTS support teams. Ability to influence key stakeholders to gain approval on strategic initiative and resource allocation for technology projects that will enhance US Commercial Compliance tools for monitoring and reporting and field and marketing compliance readiness. Extensive experience in understanding the underlying compliance and business needs and translating to holistic US Commercial Compliance technology solutions.

Accountability / Scope:

  • Reports to Director, US Commercial Compliance
  • Provides strategic compliance partnership through systems capabilities management, cross functional accountability for all tools and systems pertaining to compliance reporting, monitoring and field/marketing readiness for US Commercial
  • Provides Key Stakeholder management to CA&O, Performance Ops, OEC, Legal and BTS leadership
  • Plans and provides task supervision to members of cross-functional project teams
  • Manages large cross-functional Commercial Compliance technology projects
  • Interacts regularly with all levels of the organization including cross-functional and cross-divisional partners
  • Manage contractor or full-time direct reports as determined by Director of US Commercial Compliance

Qualifications

 

  • Education:
  • BA/BS degree required or equivalent experience. Master's degree in business or science is beneficial (but not required). BA/BS required to ensure effective understanding and application of business concepts.

 

Background:

  • Successful candidate will have significant, relevant experience leading high-impact cross-functional technology projects in marketing, sales, and/or information technology.
  • 8-15 years’ experience in business technology and/or pharmaceutical / healthcare experience with demonstrated success required

 

Technical Requirements: 

  • Significant BTS project management experience
  • Proven experience with advancing projects by developing and executing innovative, creative technology solutions
  • Experience developing, deploying, and managing effective BTS systems, quality control procedures, and comfort in directing analytic and monitoring efforts
  • Extensive understanding of pharmaceutical field and marketing activities, compliance monitoring and reporting requirements and compliance applications in field and marketing systems
  • Strong project management, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel

 

            Technical Preferences:

  • Experience collaborating with BTS teams and directing programming and development requirements
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry, compliance regulations and standards
  • Veeva/Salesforce.com experience

 

            Leadership Requirements

  • Confidence in providing subject matter expertise to Senior Leadership, OEC, Legal BTS, US Commercial and Performance Ops leadership and other high-level contacts
  • Ability to develop and deliver technology training content and communications to large and small audiences
  • Clearly and confidently articulate complex and difficult concepts
  • Manage multiple tasks/priorities simultaneously with a strong sense of urgency
  • Thrives in team environments
