I. Job Summary

The Learning & Leadership Program Manager will be part of the core leadership development team responsible for curating and creating learning solutions that help leaders and team members to develop new skills and behaviors and grow their leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will also have experience developing a coaching culture by scaling coaching programs designed for our WM leaders across a diverse organization. Additionally, they will have experience developing and implementing DE&I programs targeted to leadership groups to further advance our people first culture and value of creating an inclusive making WM a great place to work for all.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.


Provide leadership and manage the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, administration, and promotion of the WM leadership development programs; recommend effective strategies and approaches to assure that high-quality services are aligned and integrated with programmatic and business objectives.
Research/curate content and implement engaging top notch leadership development programs; coordinate and deliver a seamless end-to-end learner experience from thoughtful design to expert presentation across the organization for emerging leaders up to senior management in a variety of learning modalities, both in person and virtually.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, using their skills and expertise to ensure leading industry practices are identified and innovative learning solutions are implemented to deliver impactful leadership programs that connect to competencies, goals, and strategic initiatives at WM.
Benchmark, evaluate and measure leadership development program success with data, track performance metrics and ongoing program effectiveness, and report continuous improvement recommendations to LL&D/O&TD/People Org leadership and senior management.
Plan, organize, schedule, and prioritize workload while managing multiple interruptions and collaborating with L&D and O&TD team members to effectively deliver relevant leadership development programs and materials for leadership participants, facilitators, and virtual producers.
Manage operational aspects of leadership development programs, including scheduling courses, budget forecasting and tracking, program risk management, communication, and diagnostics.
Oversees program budgets and ensuring all administrative and training coordination details for programs are handled appropriately.
Consult with customers, vendors, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to assure that leadership development programs meet employee needs, strategic initiatives, regulatory drivers, contractual requirements, and best practices. Serve as a resource and thought leader to employees and leaders on new (and follow-up) leadership development programs, products, and services.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.


Advanced experience designing, delivering, managing, promoting, and administering large scale institution-wide leadership development programs from inception to delivery that focus on the integration of adult learning principles, systematic approaches to training (e.g., ADDIE, Kirkpatrick), and cutting-edge technology to develop innovative and interactive learning experiences.
Outstanding verbal and written communication, executive presence, interpersonal, facilitation and collaboration skills necessary to assess, write, edit, present, explain, advise, influence, and communicate program content and complex information to all levels of personnel.
Experience working effectively with all levels of management, including top executive level and administrative personnel with a commitment to inclusion, equity, diversity, continuous improvement, a passion for people and openness to new ideas/perspectives.
Advanced leadership, organizational, problem solving, decision making and analytical skills necessary to independently advise, recommend and approve appropriate actions and implement effective leadership development curricula and solutions; Growth-mindset and enthusiastic about creating exceptional learning experiences that develop leaders and organizations to be their best.
Effective organization, project-management, time-management, and self-management skills with detail orientation necessary to manage multiple complex tasks in a demanding environment with conflicting priorities, tight/changing deadlines, and frequent interruptions while providing high-level customer service and follow-through. Ability to work effectively with little to no supervision.
Experience working independently and effectively in a collaborative team environment/matrixed organization with a broad cross-section of people and organizations, managing complex projects, and meeting tight deadlines in a quick to market environment.
Experience successfully developing/managing a budget; technically savvy with application and productivity software (e.g., Microsoft 365), and virtual platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams).

Education: Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in related field

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities


Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint with substantial experience with web based interactive systems.
Demonstrate exceptional presentation skills.
