SUMMARY:
Execute strategic plans and develop tactical short range plans necessary to provide Tyson competitive advantages in service offerings that will add value to our Intl supply chain and help grow our business. Ensure well developed tactical plans are in place to effectively and efficiently run our Rendered Products Intl Transportation groups fully supporting the BU s with the most cost effective and innovative service rate packages. Be in the forefront of helping to develop regulatory positions at the USDA Federal Maritime Customs Border Protection agencies that will positively position Tyson and our industry to be competitive in the world frt. market regarding transportation documentation and customs regulations.
Responsibilities include:
Execute strategic plans and annual operating plans and develop tactical short range plans for the deployment of Tyson rail fleets
Execute Ocean, Rail and Air Freight RFPs annually for Tyson Foods competitively priced Ocean Frt. service contracts for all proteins plus hides and rendered products
Establish customer service standards necessary to support the BUs and ensure world-class services to our customers both in the U.S. and worldwide
Risk management related to trends and threats in the shipping world and domestic rail service for our TFM plants
Plus customer contingency planning and development to ensure continued service to the Bus
Oversight of all PLs
Lead and develop team to support Tyson transportation and total company initiatives
Models Tyson values and culture. Builds strong and trusting relationships with team members and business partners. Creates discipline and focus around developing talent, building talent pipeline and fostering environment that empowers team members.
This position is responsible taking corrective actions as needed to deliver the operating results in the plan.
REQUIREMENTS :
Education : BS degree in Logistics a plus or BS degree in Business Experience: 8 plus yrs. of Logistics or related experience preferred.
Computer skills : Versed in excel and other basic computer skills Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal
Special skills: Knowledge or background in Rail Ops and AAR American Association of Rail rules of operation a plus. Need understanding of USDA FMC and CBP Customs Border Protection as it relates to transportation and foreign documentation. Supervisory: Will supervise two or more groups in Transportation Customer Service.
Travel: As needed to foreign ports, freight forwarders to ensure execution, compliance and maintain relationships
