Description
Kindred at Home is wholly owned by Humana Insurance Corporation, and will complete their integration into Humana by January 2023. As such, Humana is assisting Kindred at Home on this strategic hire, who will report directly into Kindred at Home until that integration is complete.
Kindred at Home (KAH) is the nation's largest provider of community care, personal home care, home health, palliative, and hospice care. For more than 35 years, Kindred at Home has offered skilled nursing, physical, occupational, and speech therapies, social work, disease management education, hospice, and palliative care services as well as help with daily living activities.
Kindred at Home revenue is nearly $5B and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with a significant ongoing presence in Mooresville, NC and Kansas City, MO. In a 2018 transaction, Kindred at Home was purchased and owned by TPG Capital, WCAS and Humana (the 'consortium'). In April of 2021, Humana purchased TPG's and WCAS's interests in the company. Acquiring a national home health agency was integral to Humana's intent to create a transformative clinical model to serve their members in the home, enabling a greater level of integrated care. The Kindred at Home IT organization is an expanded, optimized and fully integrated organization that runs like a business, delivering IT services and enterprise business processes across all functions. Our technology teams oversee all aspects of delivery for Kindred at Home's 43,000 employees who delivery high quality, compassionate care to over 550,000 patients in nearly 800 locations throughout 40 states. As Kindred at Home begins to integrate with Humana, the organization will require a strategic, proven head of Data Analytics & Digital Technologies to act as a change agent and lead all activities for the Company. Kindred at Home envisions its IT organization as an expanded, optimized and fully integrated shared-service organization that runs like a business, delivering IT services and enterprise business processes across all functions. The Director, Data Analytics & Digital Technologies will be an integral part of the IT leadership team, with transformation objectives that are key elements of the Company's broader strategic plan.
This leader will work closely with the CIO and the senior executive team to support the Company's continued evolution. This individual will also be instrumental in working with Humana's technology, analytics and digital teams focused on the creation of longitudinal patient records, predictive analytics, the identification of gaps in care and the ability to leverage information to drive better clinical outcomes. In addition, this role is responsible for digital technologies supporting the Sales and Marketing portfolios & the business relationship with those key leaders.
This role will communicate at every level of the enterprise, including C-level. Importantly, this role will be the primary informatics leader responsible for working with the Humana Home Segment leadership to ensure that the solutions we've deployed, and the solutions being evaluated at Kindred at Home tie directly that overarching strategy.
Essential Functions:
In the near-term, the Director, Data Analytics & Digital Technologies will ensure that the Company's integration into Humana is successful, and that all analytics, whether operational, clinical, or financial are uninterrupted. This will require strong relationship building and critical leadership and execution skills, in addition to strategic vision for how Information Management for Kindred at Home will look like in the future.
Responsibilities
The Director, Data Analytics & Digital Technologies will be responsible for leading a technical team that provides: 1) Data Management Strategy/Planning, 2) Reference, Master, Metadata Management & Data Modeling, 3) Data Warehousing 4) Data Integration & Interoperability, 5) Data Security, 6) Data Quality, 7) Data Analytics & Report Development, 8) Tools Administration, 9) Data Governance & 10) Sales and Marketing Technologies.
This position requires the candidate to have the knowledge, experiences, skills, and aptitude to engage in multiple modes, from strategic decision maker to team lead and manager, to subject matter expert, and where necessary, sufficient technical depth to resolve challenges.
Key Responsibilities
The Director, Data Analytics & Digital Technologies will be responsible for leading the information technology (IT) organization's information management function across people, process, and technology including: 1) Data Management Strategy/Planning, 2) Reference, Master, Metadata Management & Data Modeling, 3) Data Warehousing 4) Data Integration & Interoperability, 5) Data Security, 6) Data Quality, 7) Data Analytics & Report Development, 8) Tools Administration, 9) Data Governance (shared with the business) & 10) Sales and Marketing Technologies
The Director, Data Analytics & Digital Technologies will have extensive Business Executive interaction and will work closely with multiple Business Analytics functions and other IT groups to effectively manage and deliver Information Management capabilities across the company.
The successful candidate will have extensive and practical experience, as well as a proven track record creating relevant, achievable, and practical information management strategies, delivering upon that strategy in an incremental way, and running these services in dynamic business settings.
(S)He should exhibit a broad managerial, leadership, business interaction and technical skillset to effectively solution for and deliver Business Intelligence capabilities across the organization for a diverse set of user needs. This requires the candidate to exhibit seasoned customer engagement skills, including customer management, relationship development, project & service delivery management, and issue resolution.
The successful candidate should have the ability to collaborate and interact closely with the Business and IT Executives, Business Analytics, Security, Shared Services, Applications, Technology Advancement, Infrastructure and Operations teams to effectively manage and deliver Information Management capabilities across the company. This role will also have significant partnering opportunities to work with Consortium Ownership (e.g., Humana) experts to advance our combined strategic efforts.
Working with Business Analytics executive stakeholders, his/her team will identify key needs and form a relevant and practical strategic vision so that we can incrementally build and maintain current and future information management capabilities (roadmap & execution) to support the company and its operations effectively and efficiently.
The Director, Data Analytics & Digital Technologies is also responsible for developing and implementing formal processes, tools, and organizational capabilities to better service growing needs.
This role will be a member of our technology management team, serving as a role model for our Leadership Values and build a high performing organization that can support our growing portfolio of products and services.
In addition to developing technical and leadership skills within the team, the leader will be a key contributor to the overall effectiveness of the IT Organization. (S)He will be responsible for mentoring and leading the team to an increased sense of team ownership and pride as an internal business partner. (S)He will also be responsible to provide strategic insights as a leader to communicate complex IT technology issues/strategies to non-technical business leaders to help deliver on successful business outcomes.
Finally, the Director, Data Analytics & Digital Technologies will be responsible for the strategy, roadmap, development & operations of all Sales and Marketing technologies to support the business. This includes all public facing website development and additional sales (e.g. salesforce) and marketing technologies.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations:
The Director, Data Analytics & Digital Technologies will have extensive experience in designing and delivering a data management & analytics strategy for a rapidly growing organization with documented success in executing such plans to the benefit of the business. The new leader should have the executive presence necessary to operate at the highest levels of influence as well as not be afraid to roll up his/her sleeves and get into the details. The new leader will need to thrive in an environment that emphasizes speed, agility, and efficiency.
The ideal leader must be able to build an overall strategy and plan that will determine when to move from existing technologies to modernize/innovate and effectively secure the Kindred at Home technology landscape, including knowing when to leverage Humana's capabilities more broadly.
Given that the role will be critical in building and enabling technology platform to allow Kindred at Home to adopt shared services model for service delivery, prior experience in enhancing cloud maturity in infrastructure operations is required.
Ideal Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business or Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent is required. Master's degree preferred. Additional technical certifications are a plus.
10-15 years of progressive responsibilities within IT functions, with a strong track record of work delivery and organizational leadership. Previous health care industry experience within both the provider and payer markets would be a major advantage.
Requires extensive direct working experience in Information Management and Business Analytics, including 1) Data Management Strategy/Planning, 2) Reference, Master, Metadata Management & Data Modeling, 3) Data Warehousing 4) Data Integration & Interoperability, 5) Data Security, 6) Data Quality, 7) Data Analytics & Report Development, 8) Tools Administration, 9) Data Governance (shared with the business) & 10) Sales and Marketing Technologies.
Prior and successful experience leading an organization through the planning, building, and running of enterprise Data Management, Analytics & Digital Technology functions.
Proven experience engaging senior business and technical executives to explain and 'sell' Data Management, Analytics & Digital Technology strategies in non-technical terms to gain consensus, and be able to effectively defend the merits and value of each resulting initiative on the roadmap
Recent experience designing and leveraging data management & analytics strategy and architecture to support organizational reporting, business intelligence dashboards & outlining how advanced analytics (predictive, prescriptive), data science, AI/Machine Learning (cognitive, context aware) and augmented analytics.
At least five years of experience leading data and/or analytics work teams that have successfully delivered in a time-constrained environment with a diverse group of business users.
Strong technical skills and working knowledge of common data integration, reporting, database, MDM, and other data management tools.
Proven success recruiting, building, training, motivating, and retaining a 'best in class' team.
Exhibits senior presence, with clear and concise communications to effectively engage all levels of staff from individual contributors to executives. Has extensive experience presenting complex content to business and technical executive audiences.
Proven leadership experience setting the vision and building, leading, and motivating high performance development teams. Leads with creativity, strategic thinking, and innovation.
