Description

We are looking for Senior Software Engineering Manager who is passionate about building great products and high performing teams. Our team is building Humana's Digital Health Platform to unify the member experience across touchpoints, connect Humana's digital ecosystem under one roof and accelerate how Humana build and deliver connected user experiences.

This person need to understand code in order make architecture decisions, perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to the team. The team utilizes JAVA.

Responsibilities

You will lead teams of software engineers in the development, configuration and modification of platform capabilities to support integrated business and/or enterprise application solutions. You also provide insight and recommendations to inform the roadmap and overall health and care of the larger portfolio. This is a leader of people who clears obstacles for his/her team while empowering and enabling others to solve complex technical and business problems. To be successful, the individual in this role must bring a strong combination of business and technical acumen and be able to provide solutions that balance the unique needs of both the business and technology.


Define and drive your team's technology vision and roadmap
Manages software engineers who design, build and maintain solutions; oversees the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions
Controls project risks by analyzing and identifying trigger events, establishing response and contingency plans and recommending ways to mitigate future risks
Ensures the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse stakeholders by building and maintaining trusting relationships with internal customers, third-party vendors, and senior management
Hires, trains, and develops talent for growth opportunities
Leads team through all technology solution development phases by ensuring team understands and adheres to company methodology, policies, standards, and controls
Provides leadership to the team by attracting and hiring talented individuals, setting goals and communicating clear expectations, providing timely and constructive feedback as well as meaningful developmental opportunities, managing performance, providing resources and support as needed, and sponsoring and leading team members through change


What You Bring

You should have experience delivering complex, distributed systems into production, an established track record in developing customer-facing software, technical ability, project management skills, and great communication skills with the motivation to achieve results in a fast pace environment.


Is obsessive about software quality, persistent in improving the software development process, and experienced in building highly available systems
Is passionate about coaching people and career development
Remains calm under pressure and can make high judgement trade-offs in situations with multiple competing priorities
Thrives in a highly diverse, collaborative, and cross-functional environment
Stays abreast of modern technologies and practices, and judiciously recommends the introduction of new technology and processes


What You Must Have


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master's is a plus)
5 years of experience in managing software development with a strong track record of on-time delivery for large, cross-functional projects
Strong track record of delivering high quality products that support sophisticated business-critical use cases
Experience with Big Data

Deep understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, distributed system architecture, and can demonstrate significant prior success as a software engineer who solved complex problems
Extensive experience building platforms on public clouds such as Azure, AWS, and/or GCP
Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a highly innovative and fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Deep understanding of best engineering practices for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code review, source control, build, test, deploy, and operations
Experience with search and content management technologies and capabilities
