**A Day in the Life**
The Senior PD Program Manager will be a leader within the Medtronic Surgical Robotics Program Management Office (PMO). This role will be the face of the product development process (PDP) in our business. This Program Manager will improve our product development process, focusing on areas such as project chartering, stage gate reviews, and DHF/PHF structure & maintenance. The Program Manager assists other members of the PMO by ensuring appropriate training, and monitoring execution of projects against our process. The program manager also collects data about project execution across the portfolio and uses it to drive further process improvements.
This person is a key player during leadership team meetings, advising the group about process compliance and facilitating decision-making for the projects.
Exhibit strong technical expertise in product development processes (PDP) or similar governance processes and provide mentorship to Project Managers and other team members
Ensure all chartered projects have conducted a thorough resource analysis prior to requesting approval.
Advise senior leaders during Project Decision Council (PDC) meetings; ensuring projects are well-prepared and efficiently move through the stage gate process and necessary decisions are made.
Collect and analyze project data to identify and capitalize on improvement opportunities, seek out best practices, identify risks and issues, assess implications, formulate recommendations, and implement innovative process solutions that deliver measurable results
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and provide guidance to teams supporting the initiatives.
Create and deliver product development and project management training, provide mentorship to process improvement leaders, and drive improvement teams towards developing employee-centric, sustainable, innovative process solutions
Contribute to a high-performing, highly motivated, collaborative team environment of trust, empowerment, accountability and recognition
Exhibit strong technical expertise in world-class product development processes including, but not limited to, traditional PMI standard project management techniques within a regulated medical device design control environment
Identify key stakeholders, understand their expectations, and maintain clear forms of project communication that can be used throughout various levels of the organization, ranging from individual project contributors to senior leadership
Assist with formation of project teams, initial project charter, and stage gate review criteria
Benchmark best in class processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Product Development and resource management processes
Lead small projects as required
**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
**Nice to Have**
Bachelors Degree in Engineering and/or scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience, MBA preferred
12 years of experience with 7 years of demonstrated experience in process improvement and/or program management techniques
5 years of experience in a regulated industry (e.g. medical, automotive, aerospace, etc.) bringing projects through a product development process (PDP)
Prior experience leading projects of varying scope; and ability to translate those experiences into a process that can accommodate a wide range of projects
High degree of competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Proven track record of successfully managing within a matrixed organization
Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and non-verbal; expert active listening skills with a keen awareness for various messaging styles; and polished ability to tailor delivery to a broad range of audiences
Must be able to lead cross-functional discussions; driving towards alignment, decisions, resolutions when necessary
Ability to manage multiple projects at once while understanding cultural differences between various regions of the world
PMP Certification
Knowledge in product development, project management, and commercialization in the medical device industry
Experience with developing and/or commercializing large capital medical devices (e.g. Robotic systems, Imaging equipment, etc.)
Experience establishing a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) system for a business (connecting schedule, resource management, budget, etc.)
Experience supporting audits from regulatory agencies where elements of design controls and product development process are reviewed
Experience with Agile development methodologies in addition to traditional waterfall project management
