Reporting to the Vice President of Global Service Logistics, the Director of Service Inventory & Planning will be responsible for all aspects of inventory management, planning and the financial forecasting of Pure’s global service parts inventory. She/he
will be a seasoned leader, responsible for the strategic direction of Pure’s
Service Inventory & Planning team and will have extensive experience developing, managing and motivating high- performance teams.
Responsibilities Include:
Collaborate with the Global Service Logistics, Global Technical Services and Manufacturing Ops. Leadership teams to establish the strategy for global service parts planning and inventory management.
Develop and lead a high-performance team of service parts planning and inventory management professionals. S/he will be responsible for defining the team’s strategic direction, providing them with industry leading tools and ensuring their on-going educational requirements are met.
Develop a global inventory requirement plan at a level of detail that comprehends part number and depot requirements along with the product life cycle status of Pure’s products.
Quantifying the cost of such inventory requirement plans, aligning them with Pure’s contractual service level commitments and financial requirements. S/he will be responsible for the accuracy of the forecasted costs.
Managing the supply of inventory that is required to maintain the target stocking levels within the Service Logistics Network. S/he will develop and manage inventory supply plans for Pure’s Manufacturing team, Repair vendors and Suppliers.
Collaborate with other teams within the Global Technical Services organization, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, etc. Specifically, the Job Holder will work closely with Product Support Engineering on product lifecycle, quality and repair issues.
Create and publish weekly/quarterly metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Service Logistics Network (i.e First Pass Fill Rate, Horizon Warnings, Inventory Plan v Forecast, In-Transit Inventory).
Lead a team of inventory professionals that are focused on the integrity of the inventory within the Service Logistics Network. The team will also focus on the return of defective inventory from the customer’s site.
Manage the inventory cycle count process. The objective is to count the inventory within the Service Logistics Network one hundred percent (100%) every quarter. Inventory accuracy shall be greater than ninety nine percent (99%).
Achieve an exemption for the year end physical inventory based upon the results of the quarterly cycle count process. Where an exemption is not granted for a specific period, the Job Holder will manage and report the results of an annual Physical Inventory.
Manage the month end/quarter end inventory close process. This will require the Job Holder and/or members of her/his team to be available outside of normal working hours to ensure that critical inventory and financial reports are run at the times required by Cost Accounting.
Manage the disposition/MRB process for the Global Service Logistics team in accordance with Cost Accounting guidelines.
Manage the customer defective inventory recovery process. The goal will be to recover 85% of defective returns within 45 days, 95% plus within 90 days.
Particular care is required by the Job Holder and his/her team to avoid any potential customer satisfaction issues that could be caused by the recovery process.
Define which recovery activities are suitable for outsourcing and will select and manage suitable vendors to perform such activities.
Manage an invoicing function for delinquent returns and ad-hoc support services requested by Pure’s customers.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE
Minimum of ten (10) years of service parts planning and inventory management experience
Plus five (5) plus years in a Senior Leadership position within a Service Parts Inventory & Planning organization within the high-tech industry.
Five (5) years plus of Vendor Management experience in the Service Parts industry
BS in Business Administration or equivalent
APIC accreditation is a bonus
Experience with Service Parts Planning Systems such as: Prophet by Baxter, Servigistics, SAP SPP etc.
Experience using Oracle or SAP
Excellent Excel skills
Comprehensive experience using MS Office or Google Docs
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
