What’s the role?
We’re seeking an energetic self-starter relationship builder to take up this exciting new Territory Manager role supporting our Distributors sales teams to retain, develop and grow the Shell brand from a marketing and technical perspective.
You will be based within the Midlands Territory (Merseyside, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire. Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Midlands, Shropshire, Leicestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire).
As Territory Manager, you’ll be based within the area outlined above and live within the UK, working from your home office. The role will encounter visiting customers within the patch as a minimum of 3-4 days per week. The role will be reporting directly to the UK Indirect Business Manager supporting the passenger car motor oil growth.
This is a start-up sales role to learn and understand this vital customer facing role, while developing a career plan within a strong team environment.
A company vehicle will be provided travel for site visits within the region. The key objective of the role is to build strong relationships with a broad range of distributors, branches and independent workshops. Putting customers at the centre, you will be working to develop our distributors knowledge on the Shell Lubricants portfolio, drive successful implementation of marketing initiatives and use your influencing skills to execute more commercial lubricants opportunities and the wider Shell portfolio.
You do not need to have pre-existing lubricants knowledge, as the role will be part of the Shell development programme! Your excellent communication skills, strong work ethic and passion for customer service will set you up for success. You’ll thrive nurturing a range of trusted stakeholder relationships, at all levels, that deliver great results.
More specific duties include:
Operate in a safe environment and then ensure that health and safety of products is understood across our distributors and end users.
Proactive customer account management, ensuring Shell is providing top level customer service.
Spot and execute opportunities to grow market share, sharing best practice as you go.
Be a brand ambassador, clearing communicating the Shell customer value proposition.
Supports system set-ups and changes (pricing, contracts etc.) based on the information provided and assists in analysis of information.
Guides internal stakeholders (e.g. Sales team) based on basic data analysis and provides incidental support (in the set up and amendment of contracts etc.).
Handles complex activities with moderate variation. Deals with less straightforward questions, adjustment with many sources of information necessary within and outside business supported.
Provides support in managing multiple processes and systems.
Works within a limited variety of well-defined procedures and practices (not necessarily standardized) and is supervised on progress and results by manager. Works autonomously within this defined scope, directly supporting management and specialists.
What we need from you
Naturally, you’ll be a motivated self-starter and graduate, perhaps with some professional experience from a commercial and customer service background, although, this is not essential. Beyond that, we’re keen to talk to men and women with evidence of the following on your CV:
Ability to develop business relationships with key stakeholders.
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
Evidence of strong commercial ability
An ability to influence others by confidently communicating the benefits of initiatives.
Passionate and curious to learn and develop a career within sales environment.
