Description of Work The Director of Special Funds Accounting is responsible for all sponsored research, training, and public service contracts and grants awarded to the university. The position will review and approve proposals, approve budgets, and review and approve all expenditures against contract and grant funds. The position will also be responsible for managing the ECSU Foundation accounts. The position will provide leadership in establishing sound financial business practices for contracts and grants and ECSU Foundation accounts. Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position Possess a working knowledge of the North Carolina Account System (NCAS), AICPA Rules, FASB and GASB. Possess the ability to interpret and analyze accounting data and to determine compliance with pertinent guidelines, rules, and laws. Knowledge of federal regulations related to sponsored programs at local, state and federal levels. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Minimum Training and Experience Graduation from a four-year college/university with a degree in Accounting or related field with five years progressive accounting experience. A Masteru2019s degree and/or CPA is preferred. Experience working with integrated financial software (Banner preferred). Experience in Foundation and Contracts and Grants accounting. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Management Preferences A Masteru2019s degree and/or CPA is preferred. Banner Finance experience preferred.
