MSRC is currently seeking a Senior Accounting Manager
to work in our Herndon, VA
location. This position reports to the Corporate Controller.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for numerous financial and accounting functions. This includes managing a team of 2-4 personnel, tax planning and filing, accounts payables oversight, invoice processing and lease software administration, Treasury management, fixed asset administration and reporting, development of internal control policies and procedures, and overall accounting compliance functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Managing a team of 2-4 people and ensuring deadlines are being met on a consistent basis
Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; ensures federal, state and local regulatory compliance, including timely submission of monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns (property, sales/use, etc.)
Research tax impacts and issues, as needed
Annual 990/990T IRS return
Serve as bank liaison and responsible for review of bank reconciliations
Administrator for Invoice Processing software (AvidXchange/Ariett) and Lease Accounting software (LeaseQuery)
Coordinates audits from
federal, state and local taxing agencies; coordinates with internal and external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audits
Fixed Asset System Management (Great Plains)
Corporate Controller Backup
Develop and maintain Accounting policies and procedures for internal control purposes
Promote and support MSRC’s corporate wide Management System
Projects and other financial duties, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
Certified Public Accountant designation is a PLUS
Great Plains and AvidXchange/Ariett experience are a PLUS
Knowledge of GAAP, with specific experience with Accounting Standard Codification (ASC) 842 is a PLUS
Ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders
Proven ability to handle confidential information appropriately
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Travel as required by business needs
Ability to be available by cell 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if required
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and especially Excel)
This position requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination
