Job Purpose/Summary:

This position is responsible for leading, coaching a team of 6 Claims Analysts and developing the Poultry and Prepared Transportation Claims Research and Investigation team to perform root cause research of Transportation Claims, reconcile documentation and systems information to determine validity of claims, and reviewing claims filed by Research Coordinators. The primary functions and purpose of the position is to provide final decision on whether a claim should be filed; make timely disposition decisions; manage the aging report and collect payment from carriers for over $3 million in outstanding claims filed as well as coordinating with internal stakeholders to accept product when product is returned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sr Claims Supervisor will lead a team to resolve urgent and complex claims issues through research, evaluation, and application of Legal justification. Position will collaborate with business unit decision makers, FSQA, Plant managers and dispatch to reroute product to our most optimal return locations; coach and manage 6 Claims Analysts that perform research and gather the documentation for establishing a case for filing claims against carriers. Coordination with many groups including operational Business Units, Sales, Transportation, Warehousing, Product Movement, and Accounting to understand business impacts, gather relevant non-system data to determine root cause. The decisions made by the Claims team will result in decisions that can have financial, transportation capacity, as well operational business impacts which can result in multi-million-dollar effects on Tyson’s annual operational costs.
