. The Manager of Web Technology Services will partner with the digital strategy and innovation team, managing the front-end site development and management as well as other strategic departments/units of the University to advance the campuses web presence and digital/mobile strategy for campus. This position will partner with and work closely with the Marketing, Communications, Digital Strategy, and Enrollment executive offices on campus, and advise IT leadership on web & digital strategy efforts. This position will lead the technical web and mobile architecture/administration, campus web development, content management system administration, and oversight of UM’s web development.
The Manager will collaboratively lead all campus web personnel to help promote web and accessibility standards. This position will work closely with all Marketing/Digital Strategy leadership and IT executive leadership in setting web and mobile technology direction and help lead UM’s web presence in the adoption of cloud technologies. The Manager of Web Technology Services (WTS) will report to the Deputy CIO of Enterprise Technology. This position will be responsible for the direct management of the web, mobile development, and web support team comprised of four (4) full time staff members, along with multiple part-time student employees. In addition, this position may be responsible for hiring temporary staff or managing contractors and consultants to augment operations when needed.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Project and portfolio administrator for all web and mobile initiatives in IT, and lead the Universities web, mobile, and web app development efforts on campus
Oversee the development and management of the University's web presence through appropriate tools and processes
Create a long-term plan for expansion and improvement of the University's web strategy, products and resources
Lead and participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive web strategy to improve the user experience, provide brand consistency and administer role-based access for SEO optimization efforts across all sections of the University's web presence
Ensure the University's websites meet web content accessibility guidelines, usability standards and performance requirements
In conjunction with the Cyberinfrastructure team, manage the University's website hosting platform, and provide strategic direction of cloud technology adoption
Administer the content management systems
Lead, manage, and develop a team of highly-skilled web developers in support of web and mobile software development projects for campus
Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and transparency
Act as the project manager for University web & mobile presence initiatives.

Upon completion of training, the incumbent will have:
Proficiency in digital and web strategy, and provides consultative support to the Universities communication & enrollment strategy efforts
Working ability to manage vendor relationships and strategy of the use of Content Management Systems, and mobile technology platforms in use at UM
Working knowledge to develop and provide guidance of IT’s cloud adoption.
Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position is $75,000 - $80,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Required Skills
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, strong project management experience, as well as be able to function within a highly collaborative and agile team

Ability to solve complex problems
Advanced knowledge of Content Management Systems, Web Development methodologies, HTML, CSS, LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, & PHP), Javascript, mobile applications, web services, web servers, databases, browsers, and cloud technologies
Ability to effectively manage and lead teams, as well as develop personnel
Ability to understand demands and needs for the mobile app.
Required Experience
At least five (5) years of managing staff and of web/mobile development
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with the Cascade Content Management system from Hannon Hill, or an equivalent CMS
Experience working with Higher Education mobile technology platforms
Experience working with Cloud DevOps architecture, and Cloud development technologies (ie: Azure or AWS web tools)
Demonstrated ability beyond HTML, CSS, JavaScript and design skills to include ability to administer enterprise and mobile application/systems
Demonstrate an understanding of relational databases such that they can write queries and generate reports as necessary.

UM IT is organized into four major units of service delivery:
Enterprise Technology (ET),
responsible for application/web development, enterprise cloud information systems, database administration, enterprise project management, and ERP administration for Student, Finance and Human Resource systems.
Cyberinfrastructure
, responsible for IT facilities, datacenters/servers, classroom technology, central authentication, directory/email services, campus network infrastructure, telephone system and UM's network connectivity across Montana.
Client Experience
, responsible for a variety of client support services including support services, UM IT Helpdesk, PC/Desktop/Laptop provisioning, software licensing, classroom technology support and computer lab management.
Information Security
, responsible for information security policies and procedures, security awareness training, security incident response, identity management, coordinating risk assessments with UM and MUS colleagues, and managing UM’s information security program.
