The Medical Assistant supports the Physician and RNs with administrative and clinical functions in the practice. The MA is essential in chart preparation, assisting with patient visits, and communicating with the care team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.nPerform at all times under the supervision of practice management and within limitations established by law, regulations, or usual practice within the state.nPrepares charts in advance and day of patient appointments, which includes getting records and calling patients. nEnsures appointments are scheduled correctly.nGreets, receives, and rooms patients for appointments/procedures; conducts interviews with patients, measures vital signs, and records information.nAdministers flu, pneumonia, Hepatitis B and other injections under the direction of the physician per individual state regulations.nMaintains nursing stations and examination areas. nMaintains patients rooms and stocks rooms and supply orders.nScans documents in charts.nSchedules radiology and lab appointments, biopsies, IV infusions and referral appointments.nObtains authorization for prescriptions and procedures.nMonitors tasks in box daily, makes sure all orders are addressed and forwards completed tasks.nFollows up on record requests and pending folders.nPages/Calls providers with alerts when out of office.nPerforms other related duties as assigned by management. nParticipate in team concepts and promote a team effort; perform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.nRegular and reliable attendance is required for the job. nQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.nRequirements include:nHigh school diploma or equivalent. nCompletion of formal training program as nursing/medical assistant and/or comparable experience in clinical setting.nKnowledge of medical terminology.nValid driver's license in applicable state.
