Logistics Manager Jobs

A logistics manager manages truck shipments, rail shipments, international shipments, shipper and carrier communications work. A logistics manager usually handles the daily management and coordination of export/import shipments. Establishing and coordinating schedules for carrier and tender shipments are one of the most lucrative aspects of the work logistics managers perform. A logistics manager also has to track and trace all shipments and maintain shipping records so that information about shipments can be accessed in the future. Individuals in logistics manager jobs must prepare and publish daily and weekly reports as well as analyze performance trends at regular intervals. Additionally, a logistics manager has to confirm rates with carriers and answer and resolve billing questions whenever required. Therefore, he or she needs to update and maintain transportation management systems. Logistics manager jobs require the management of carrier rates as well.

Logistics manager jobs require an International Air Transport, or a Department of Transportation certificate. For a logistics manager job, two years of experience in a logistics environment is considered ideal.
