Pasadena, CA — In spite of news of layoffs and a looming economic recession, managerial professionals don’t have it as bad as many may think, according to ManagerCrossing (www.managercrossing.com).
ManagerCrossing, the management field’s fastest-growing job board, with close to 150,000 manager jobs, including positions for branch managers, business managers, and recruiting managers, among others, found that in just one month it has added more than 30,000 jobs to its listings. In just a matter of eight weeks, the job listings on ManagerCrossing have more than doubled.
The weakening economy and recession fears have created job losses for numerous industries. According to CNN, the job losses during the first quarter of the year are the worst in five years. Job losses have affected many industries, with manufacturing losing 52,000 jobs, construction losing 39,000 jobs, and retail losing 34,000 jobs.
Despite these dismal numbers, the management industry is going strong, with thousands of new jobs having been added to ManagerCrossing in recent weeks.
ManagerCrossing’s listings indicate that there is a large concentration of manager jobs in the mid-Atlantic states, with 5,400 openings in Pennsylvania, close to 9,000 in New York, and approximately 4,800 in New Jersey. California tops all other states with 14,000 managerial job openings.
And new managerial jobs are being added to ManagerCrossing daily. In just the past seven days, close to 20,000 new managerial job listings have been added to the site. This increase is a good indication that last year’s growth in managerial jobs will continue into 2008.
