Managing: Leadership and Management should not be distinguished

Management and leadership both are interrelated terms. Leadership is a part of the management. All these studies come under the human resource branch of the management studies.

There are detailed subjects those deal with each and every matter and issue related to management and leadership. Management is an art and also a science. It has different definitions in the management studied. Very famous and renowned professors have given definitions of management and leadership in the management studies. The term-Don't Distinguish leadership from management given by the famous Professor Mintzberg is a right one. Henry Mintzberg is a professor at Mc Gill University in Montreal, Canada. He has given a different statement in his latest book ‘Managing' on this distinguishing aspect. Managers should be given enough opportunities towards becoming a good planner.

He has said that ‘Managers are leaders and leadership should be seen as management practiced well'. The job management of different leaders depends upon the management staff. The job management is becoming difficulty day by day because of the heavy work loads and pressures that are relied on the managers who are being hindered from becoming leaders. Such difficulties in the job management are distinguishing future progress and the growing similarities. The managers have good careers in the management. The manager career depends upon the skills and expertise of the management. The management function and execution shapes the manager's career.

The manager career is the management's career. If the management does not lay emphasis in giving a good shape and way out then the manager career will also be affected. The professor's guidance should be taken in terms of making management careers a success.

Therefore, the term management and leadership should not be distinguished can be applied only when a management career in moving in the right shape.
