Vernon E. Hopkins, Jr., appointed general manager of Internet solutions by Jack Henry & Associates
Jack Henry & Associates, Inc., has appointed Vernon E. "Pete" Hopkins, Jr., general manager of Internet solutions. In the newly created role, Hopkins will join the company's senior management team of 13 operationally aligned general managers. He will be responsible for providing managerial insight into the development, support, installation, operations, communications, quality assurance, and education departments that maintain the company's Internet banking channels. Hopkins was previously director of software development for the company's core banking platforms and corresponding solutions. Jack Henry & Associates, Inc., is a prominent supplier of integrated computer systems and processor of ATM/debit card/ACH transactions for banks and credit unions.

DesignPresentation hires Jeffery McPhie as its new general manager
Jeffery McPhie has been hired as DesignPresentation's new general manager for North America. McPhie comes to DesignPresentation from Sinar Bron Imaging, where he served as a regional sales manager providing high-end digital photographic imaging solutions for the federal government and commercial photographic markets. Additionally, McPhie has created and managed graphic production-service companies serving Fortune 100 firms at both the corporate and entrepreneurial levels. He brings to McPhie more than 25 years of experience in sales, creative management, operational management, and sales management. DesignPresentation is a leading name in computer-aided design (CAD) and graphic design and promises the 100% accuracy of all projects it delivers.

Dave Scarangella new general manager of Clarke Times-Courier
Dave Scarangella will head the Clarke Times-Courier as its new Loudoun division general manager. Prior to the new appointment, he was general manager of WAGE Radio. Scarangella earlier worked as a sports writer for the Blacksburg Sun and Roanoke Times and as a sports editor for the Martinsville Bulletin and Lynchburg News & Advance. Not limiting himself to writing, Scarangella also held sales and marketing positions in the furniture industry before joining WAGE Radio last year, according to TimesCommunity.com. The appointment was made by Peter Arundel, president and CEO of the Clarke Times-Courier's parent company, Arcom Publishing.

Jeffrey Crangle joins PTI Packaging Systems as general manager
Jeffrey Crangle has taken over the reins of PTI Packaging Systems as its general manager. PTI will benefit from Crangle's 20 years of international sales and marketing experience as well as his expertise in the packaging industry. Crangle began his packaging career in 1986 and has maintained an industrial focus throughout his years in the field. Prior to his new appointment, he held managerial positions at various organizations, including a large American packaging-machinery manufacturer. He was also responsible for managing U.S. sales operations for Atoma/Multipond, a German manufacturer of combination weighers, and was the OEM sales manager for weighing equipment and product development manager for case-packing solutions at Yamato Corporation.

Two new appointments at Vertex Pharmaceuticals
Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., has recently created and filled two new positions. Kurt C. Graves has been appointed executive vice president, chief commercial officer, and head of strategic development, while Amit K. Sachdev joins the company as senior vice president of public policy and government affairs. Graves will be responsible for strategic development and commercial functions as well as the business development group and will be based at Vertex's headquarters in Cambridge, MA. In his new position, Sachdev will lead Vertex's public policy and government affairs activities and will be based in Washington, DC. Commenting on this new development, President and CEO of Vertex Joshua Boger said the extensive experience of both Graves and Sachdev will be indispensable to the company.
